Yeah, I’m going to replace this cheesy little Halloween ice sculpture designs banner as soon as I can. Maybe in September?
updated 7/18/23 with a LOT of formatting, seo, info (or lack of) about the ebook, and links to all the updated Halloween ice sculpture designs
all the Halloween ice sculpture designs, so far
It’s coming up on the spookiest time of year again and a fun time for Halloween ice sculptures 👻 and ice luges! I’ve collected all the links for the ice designs that are on the site along with some pictures and info. I’m hoping to add at least one more and maybe a few new designs before we actually get to Halloween.
Ron Meyn sent me a cool goblin design a while back that’s part of the list. There’s a demon head that could be a luge that used to be part of the ebook, but maybe I’ll just go ahead and put it on the site. I haven’t decided yet… I’ve long planned an update of the Halloween design ebook, but I don’t know that it’s a good idea to try to do it this year. Too much to do; probably next year 😬
quick jumps to the design(s) you want
You might not have time to wade through all my blather, so here are quick links to jump down to the Halloween ice sculpture design that sounds the most appealing to you.
bat, moon, & pumpkin
bat, swooping
demon head?
evil eye
goblin
Headless Horseman
Igor
owl, swooping
scaredy cat with jack-o-lantern
skull & crossbones luge
Voodoo mask
this is one of my oldest Halloween ice sculpture designs, but I like it!
bat, moon, and pumpkin
Yes, I know that the bat in the bat, moon, and jack-o-lantern design looks familiar (see below). That’s old news. This is also an old as dirt Halloween ice sculpture design. It’s the first Halloween design that I added to ice carving secrets when I started posting them years ago.
Chris Currier sent in a really nice photo of the swooping bat that he carved!
swooping bat
The swooping bat is related to the swooping owl design (below) as the structure is very similar. This bat is also related to the bat in the bat, moon, and jack-o-lantern design (above). You might even accuse me of ripping the bat right off that design and just making it bigger. That’s not too far from the truth, but shhh, don’t tell anyone! This bat requires little more than a half block slab of ice to get it done, except for a base slab of ice so it won’t fall over. Because it sucks when that happens.
demon head (originally designed to showcase a bottle of vodka sitting in his mouth)
demon head?
For this angry Halloween ice sculpture design, you have to go to the ebook, maybe. (IF you can get the ebook 🤷♂️) I actually haven’t decided yet if I’m adding this one to the site 🤣 The real template, if I decide to post it, is actually a little better than the sculpture in the photo, as the original sculpture was largely carved on the fly. After the fact, I went back and redrew it, improving the demon’s eyes and expression in the process.
Anyway, there’s no post link here because I’m still thinking about whether to add it or NOT 🤔 It’s not going to kill you if I don’t. Plus, we still have some time, as of this update. However, if I do add it, there will be a killer luge version so that you can get SHOTS FROM HELL 🔥🔥, which is exactly what they should be called.
evil eye
The evil eye design is extra spooky when you hide the base and make it look like it’s suspended in midair. If you put lighting underneath the support pedestal, it’ll still go right up into the sculpture, whether the base is hidden or not. Only thing spookier than this evil eye is TWO of them. That would creep me the eff out!
thanks to Ron Meyn for the not-Shrekish, not Spidermanish, but buff AF greenish goblin design! Check out the design; it’s legit kinda scary. Btw, I WILL NOT be coming up with an ice luge version of this one. Since that would be wrong.
goblin
Check out the goblin design from Ron Meyn, pretty grim! It takes about a block and a half of ice and requires some significant welding. Not for novice ice sculptors, for sure. Maybe the most difficult Halloween ice sculpture design on the list. And make sure you have help to lift it!
this is my only ice/pumpkin sculpture ever. I have a better version of the design that I will probably post if I can recover it from an old computer before we get to October.
Headless Horseman
Wait, did I just say that the goblin is the most difficult Halloween ice sculpture design here? 🤣 Ichabod Crane just asked me to hold his beer. ☠️ The Headless Horseman design is rough and very heavy too! It requires a couple blocks of ice, several welds, a smaller than usual pumpkin, and a little bit of pumpkin carving skills.
Igor serves shots! Always the awesome servant, Igor brings you test tube shots just when you needed them 🤪
Igor, faithful servant
Igor is not the most attractive ice sculpture, but Igor’s not the most attractive human either. He’s sporting his hunchback, an odd, sleepy expression and a messy mop of hair. He’s not much of a looker, but he’s very considerate and holds out a tray with shots, or drinks, or candy, or whatever you want it to hold. Check out this subservient Halloween ice sculpture design to see how to get this awkward shape out of just one block of ice.
geez, every time I look at this pic, I wish I’d gotten a better pic. Except for the eyes, I really liked this sculpture.
swooping owl
This swooping owl sculpture has his talons out, ready to attack! It the photo, you can see that I could have done a little better job on the owl’s eyes; they look a little cartoony. In my defense, owl eyes do look a little cartoonish. However, they still need a little work. Next time. You should probably use a full block of ice for this Halloween ice sculpture. Unlike the bat design from earlier in the post, this sculpture requires a significant amount of depth, even though the talons need to be frozen on.
someday I’ll have a photo for this sculpture and it will be AWESOME! But not today 🙁
scaredy cat with jack-o-lantern
The scaredy cat atop a jack-o-lantern is not the easiest sculpture; the cat’s head and tail can be tricky. But there’s a transport strut method for keeping the tail intact until set up that’s described. More than one sculpture design on the site employs this “trick.”
this COULD be a pirate design. But right now it’s a Halloween ice sculpture design. So there.
skull and crossbones luge
Here’s a for sure ice luge, finally! The skull and crossbones luge is fairly straightforward, not difficult to carve, and can be done with only a half-block slab of ice. Super CNC friendly too!
this one is a good fit only once in a long while. I’m a little afraid to sculpt it, actually 😱😜
Voodoo mask
Maybe there’s a Voodoo themed Halloween party and you need the perfect Halloween ice sculpture for that bad idea party? Ok then. Here you go.
what about the Halloween ebook?
Well, it’s been so long that I barely remember what’s in this ebook. But apparently, the Halloween ice sculpture design ebook has 3 designs that are not on the site (a perched owl, a big skull luge, and the demon head) as well as a significantly improved Headless Horseman design with an alternate version. It also includes tips on ice sculpting tools and info on ice blocks.
I’m currently trying to decide what to do with all of the ebooks, assuming I can get to them, since they’re trapped on another computer 🤦♂️ I’m 90% sure I can recover them though, probably before Halloween even! Then I’ll decide what to do with the designs and the ebook.
But Happy Halloween and don’t forget to send in pictures of any of these sculpture designs that you carve this year! Thanks!
