Rembrandt rabbit ice sculpture design & template
This design was part of the old ice carving secrets site, however, I don’t think it was ever posted. I just stuck it on the design page sometime in 2010 without a secrets post backing it up. So this is probably the first time it’s been posted.
I believe I’ve carved it one time; almost certainly not more than that though. You COULD make the egg colored, but that might be tricky :/ I would also say that this design would probably be best for SHORT Easter Brunches. Try it at a long brunch and the bunny would probably lose his ears and his right arm 
One thing I like to do with my ice sculpture designs is talk about the tools that work well for certain parts of the design. A rabbit’s fur (or ANY fur really) can be a challenge. I like to use a 7 degree cone end mill bit on my die grinder to detail the fur.
Perhaps this caption could have a random fact about the Rembrandt rabbit ice sculpture design; I’ll decide later since I’m in a rush…
how would I handle it on a CNC?
Since I have a smaller CNC machine, the Rembrandt rabbit ice sculpture wouldn’t be ideal for it. Rather than killing myself programming a design that combines multiple pieces, I probably would sculpt it myself. If I decided to program it on the CNC, I feel like I’d end up making far more work for myself than I had to. Sculptures like this are why it’s good for a sculptors to know how both to run a CNC machine and sculpt pieces by hand.
