wedding rings ice sculpture design

wedding rings ice sculpture by Dawson List

this one maybe isn’t the best wedding rings ice sculpture I have a pic of, but I like the color lighting especially. The background could be better, but the ice POPS.

my wedding rings ice sculpture design

Ok, sometimes I forget that I forgot to add a design to the old ice carving secrets website the normal way: put together a post that babbles on about how to make the sculpture and hopefully has a funny story as well. Evidently, I forgot to add this wedding rings ice sculpture design that way. I think I just stuck it in a special design section that I built for the old site and thought “screw it” on the post part. Definitely not the only time I’ve done this. My diamond vase and circle vase designs got the same treatment.

So, this is the first actual post then for my wedding rings ice sculpture design. Which is cool; in hindsight I’d rather do it this way. Google likes words and stuff and you probably already know that sometimes I can’t shut up 🤪

a somewhat tricky part of this design is the part where the rings interlock. That’s where I’ve goofed most often, so take care! See how Amanda & Devin’s wedding rings ice sculpture turned out in one of the pics below.

I’ve used this design a number of times. The first place was in Gallier Hall in New Orleans (see it down below), which is where the Mayor of New Orleans meets and toasts the King of Mardi Gras, Rex, every year on Mardi Gras Day.

This design also made a quick appearance on a local news segment that I was in, kind of in the midst of the pandemic. (That sculpture is at the top of the post.) Sometimes I HATE watching myself on tv; other times I’m ok with it. This was one of the times I hated, and I was also a little annoyed that they didn’t mention the name of my ice sculpting company. (NOT ONCE!) So maybe I’m bitter 😤🤬🤣 Either way, I won’t be linking to THAT segment. You have google, find it yourself if you’re so damn curious!

variations?

I don’t have any variations yet, but there definitely are possibilities. Maybe when I work up the CNC design.

to CNC or not CNC?

The last time I made this piece, my CNC wasn’t running. But it’s a great design for a CNC, so that’s how I’ll make it next time. I’ll post when I do and add some pics and drawings.

this was my first shot at my wedding rings ice sculpture. This is at Gallier Hall on St. Charles Ave. in New Orleans.

see the small piece inside the ring on the right? You can do shallow detail on the diamond in the ring and then freeze a small piece over it to make the detail last and the diamond stand out a bit. Cut it so it’s about 1.5-2″ thick though. Not the full 4″+ thickness!

Amanda and Devin DEFINITELY went all out for their reception and my wedding rings ice sculpture got a great backdrop. I could probably work on the pic a little more to make the ice stand out a little more. And I’m looking forward to being able to CNC this design next time to make it super clean!
