a stern pilgrim ice sculpture for Thanksgiving

My pilgrim ice sculpture design is based on the stereotypical pilgrim, complete with tall hat, buckles, and blunderbuss. My research told me that pilgrims probably didn’t dress this way, at least not all the time, but an ice sculpture should be recognizable to the viewer, so this design incorporates the expected elements.

Mr. Pilgrim’s is turned to his left because a profile view makes for a much better silhouette and I’ve eliminated the structural dangers of the figure’s knees and ankles by placing a “Happy Thanksgiving!” emblem at the sculpture’s base.

The design requires a block and a quarter, with the smaller piece of ice used for the head and hat. The head is attached with a simple horizontal weld. Make sure to leave enough thickness in the brim of the hat so that it doesn’t fade away quickly. If you decide that you don’t want your pilgrim ice sculpture to have a firearm (totally understandable, either way), just make it into something else, like a staff or walking stick.

my pilgrim ice sculpture isn’t in the video above, but it’s still Thanksgiving-related, so I added it…
