suave martini with olive ice luge design

martini with olive ice luge design

The red and green olive really stands out and makes it a real “martini luge.”

my martini with olive ice luge design

*updated 5/17/23, maybe a little, but not much

This design is a variation on a previous design, the martini glass luge. For more details on adding the tube luge, please check that design and also the stars luge design. This sculpture is carved from a 40”x20”x4-5” slab (half a block) and the main portion of the sculpture is attached to a stabilizing base. The color is added from the back of the block using glitter, sand, or paint methods. (I’m going with sand over glitter exclusively until I can figure out solid biodegradable glitter options.) The bottom graphic is a backside template that can be used to position the olive and the backside luge track.

different design approaches

Right now, I got nothing. But I can work on the side supports for the martini glass and try to come up with some other options. The olive in this looks so cool that I’m not going to try to change that. And the glass pretty much has to stay like it is.

how would it work on a CNC machine?

Definitely. It’s a flat design, so I will be from now on sculpting this on my CNC and I will post pics as soon as that happens. I’ve done thousands of ice sculptures over the years and only a small percentage of them have so far been converted to CNC designs. That is one of the challenges, but also the beauty of CNC machines.
