the remodeled ice bar at minus5 Orlando from 2017. Not dramatically different from the original bar in this case, but still very cool!
minus5 Orlando 2017 makeover
Back in 2017, Ice Pro brought me in to work on a remodel for minus5 Orlando. We replaced a lot of the ice walls and a lot of the major ice features. As I recall, however, I wasn’t there for the whole thing. I think some of it happened before I got there, like I think the swamp room was mostly done. (Although, I did do a lot of CNC programming for that part.) And then it seems like more was to happen after I left. I think in particular, more ice thingamabobs were added on the ice walls.
Initially, I was going to just put all my minus5 Orlando pics together, but as you can see (well, if you compare it to the other gallery, that is), these pics have a completely different look from my other minus5 Orlando pics. The lighting is work lighting, not “ready for guests” lighting. Also, there’s snow and/or ice blocks lying around in some pics. And of course, there’s no bartender anywhere to be seen.
minimal useful info here so far, sorry
Yeah, still working on this part. Also working on the other minus5 Orlando gallery. If you’re desperate for more info about minus5 ice bars, you can find out about the Vegas ones here: minus5. Oh, and remind me to talk about the shark jaw photo op sculpture that is just barely visible in one or two of the gallery pics.
so, where was minus5 Orlando?
minus5 Orlando was on International Drive, near the Orange County Convention Center. International Drive is where there’s an awful lot of fun things to do in Orlando, outside of the big theme parks. Interestingly, minus5 Orlando was not that far from Icebar Orlando. They seemed to have a somewhat different way of going about their business though. Also, minus5 has proven without a doubt that even 3 ice bars can coexist in one tourist area (see Vegas), so I don’t think their proximity was necessarily the reason there’s not a minus5 Orlando anymore.
still more boring stuff that nobody reads
I’m slowly working on rebuilding my collection of ice sculpture galleries (like very slowly). I had a pretty impressive collection on the old ice carving secrets site, so I have all of those and many more to add as well. I’m dumping photo galleries onto the site as quickly as I can. My current estimate is that I will end up with at least 7 million photo galleries on the site. Oops, I meant about 60 or so, 2 of which will be minus5 Orlando galleries and maybe 3 other minus5 galleries too. But I still have a long ways to go. As for more like this, check out the selection of galleries from icy places.
For pics from still more ice bars, I have galleries from Frost, Ice Club Roma, Imperia Ice Club, a Cape Town Ice Lounge, and a little gallery (at the moment) from Icebar Orlando. As soon as I can, I’ll be adding more galleries from other locales, like a Berlin ice bar and an Amsterdam ice bar. I should soon also have a new gallery and a least a couple of old ones for Icebar Orlando.
Also, you might also find photos and info from this gallery on the ice sculpting secrets Instagram account or the facebook page. Since you can’t comment on this page, comment there if you have any thoughts or knowledge related to this event. Thanks!
